ONSHORE OYSTER FARM TOURS

Tarkine Fresh Oysters has been perfecting the processes involved in growing award winning oysters of a premium standard for over 40 years over our 6 oyster leases in Smithton, Tasmania.

It’s safe to say we’ve achieved this goal, winning numerous awards over the years and having a glowing reputation for offering some of the the freshest organic oysters around.

We sell our oysters onsite through our retail outlet & small Café and supply restaurants & retailers, locally, Statewide, Inter-State & Internationally.

Join us for an onshore tour of our processing facilities to learn just how much planning, hard work and science goes into growing these delicious gifts from the sea!

TOUR PRICING

Tours are to be booked at least a week in advance to ensure staff availability.

The staff member doing the tours is also the Manager of the processing facility, external Restaurant sales & our Cafe!

Minimum of 2 people. Enclosed footwear is recommended as you will walk on uneven gravel areas.

For larger groups over 10 people, pricing can be discussed on application.

$30 per person - 30 minutes

Half dozen oysters - a mixture of natural, fresh topped or baked oysters served with lemon and 41’ South ginseng spice

Our retail outlet was opened in late 2017 to showcase the fine produce this area has to offer. Visit our Café and you are guaranteed to experience only the freshest oysters. With a creamy texture and sweet, white flesh, you will be delighted with our oysters! You can also enjoy a take home pack, available fresh or topped for your convenience, ready to pop straight into the oven.

 

We stock a range of cooking and serving trays for oysters, and a range of oyster knives. Are you in need of a gift or a souvenir for your travels? We have other Tasmanian products available and can make hampers to order. We even have gift vouchers available for that ‘hard to buy for’ person!
