AWARD-WINNING TASMANIAN OYSTERS

Tarkine Fresh Oysters was founded in 2017 by Jonathon Poke after growing oysters for 40 years in Duck Bay Tasmania. Jon’s passion was to provide customers with “fresh on the day” harvested and shucked oysters.

In 2020 Tarkine Fresh Oysters joined the Tasmanian Oyster Company, with the focus to continue Jon’s passion for providing the freshest and most premium oysters possible.

 
 

The concept of Tarkine Fresh Oysters since its creation has been to grow the best oyster possible; the highest meat to shell ratio, consistency, and an oyster that travels well on its way to market. Our café and retail store is purely for the enjoyment of meeting tourists and locals and providing you with the freshest oysters you’ve ever had. (Jon Poke 2017)

 

We hope to give you an opportunity to experience and learn about the life of an oyster and its journey to your plate. We want to change the way in which our customers appreciate oysters and we’d love Tasmania to be known globally for this beautiful produce.

ONSHORE OYSTER FARM TOURS

Tarkine Fresh Oysters has been perfecting the processes involved in growing award winning oysters of a premium standard for over 40 years over our 6 oyster leases in Smithton, Tasmania.

It’s safe to say we’ve achieved this goal, winning numerous awards over the years and having a glowing reputation for offering some of the the freshest organic oysters around.

We sell our oysters onsite through our retail outlet & small Café and supply restaurants & retailers, locally, Statewide, Inter-State & Internationally.

TOUR PRICING

Tours are to be booked at least a week in advance to ensure staff availability, for a minimum of 2 people. Enclosed footwear is recommended as you will walk on uneven gravel areas.

Set days for tours are Wednesday, Thursday & Fridays 11am or 2pm - BY BOOKING ONLY!

For larger groups over 10 people, pricing can be discussed on application.
